S$# 028 Murray McLauchlan | Try Walkin' Away
Murray McLauchlan enjoyed a lot of commercial success in Canada in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He had a very commercial sound, bu that didn't take away from the style or power of his music. Try Walkin' Away from 1980 is a great example of that.
The song has folk elements guitar and harmonica, but it also features sax and whole horn section, and great backing vocals by Carole Pope. Murray's singing about empowerment here. You don't have to stick with a bad situation.
TWA is on the album Into A Mystery, which unfortunately is long out of print.

Hey girl
Take a walk tonight
You don't owe no man a thing
If he isn't gonna treat you right
You ain't some record to be played on someone's hit parade
If you wanna do something for yourself today
Try walkin' away
Try walkin' away
